Job Description

Our client, Australia's largest domestic retail supplier of salmon is looking to employ a Maintenance Trades Person for their factory based in East Devonport, Tasmania.

As a Maintenance trades assistant, you will be responsible for all tasks including but not limited to:

  • Repair, fix and maintain plant machineries and equipment.
  • Fabricate, position, align parts for machinery, tools and machine components.
  • Ensure all breakdowns are minimised whilst repairs and corrective actions are identified and completed.
  • Operate power tools, equipment, and automotive equipment.
  • Other cleaning / labouring tasks as requested

You will be required to work Monday to Friday with some Saturday work, approximately 35- 45 hours/week. Starting times can vary from 2am to 7:30am. You will start out on an initial contract with the possibility of ongoing work for the right candidate, once deemed competent.

Your Skills & Experience

Previous experience in a similar role is highly regarded along with trade qualifications such as mechanical fitter or an electrician.

Reliable and focused on always ensuring a culture of safety for yourself and team members, you will have an understanding of mechanical plant and equipment in order to maintain production machinery. You'll need a willingness to work long hours and varied start times including late at night and early morning.

To be considered for the role, it's important you can address the following criteria:

  • Trade qualification e.g., mechanical fitter or electrician
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Forklift licence and First Aid certificate (desirable but not required)
  • Professional references to support the above
  • Own transport is essential
